Selective and chromogenic culture media
VČŽG (VRBD, VRBG – Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar)
Selective agar culture medium containing crystal violet, neutral red, bile salts, and glucose. Used to determine the number of bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family according to the ČSN EN ISO 21528-2 standard.
VČŽL (VRBL – Violet Red Bile Lactose Agar)
Agar culture medium with crystal violet, neutral red, bile salts, and lactose. Intended for determining the number of coliform bacteria according to ČSN ISO 4832.
Chromogenic agar
Selective agar culture medium intended for the simultaneous determination of coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli in water according to ČSN EN ISO 9308-1 and in food.
Chromogenic TBX agar (Tryptone Bile X-Glucuronide Agar)
Selective agar medium with added bile salts, used for the detection and determination of Escherichia coli according to ČSN ISO 16649-2. The growth of accompanying gram-positive microflora is inhibited by the presence of bile salts and a higher incubation temperature of 44 °C.
Selective liquid media
2% BGB broth (Brilliant Green Bile Broth)
Selective culture medium containing brilliant green and bile, which inhibit the growth of anaerobic gram-positive bacteria that ferment lactose. It creates a suitable environment for the growth of coliform bacteria, which rapidly produce gas during lactose fermentation. A more economical alternative to EE broth.
EC broth (EC Broth – Escherichia coli Broth)
Selective medium designed to differentiate fecal coliform bacteria and confirm Escherichia coli in food and the environment.
Special agar media
TTC lactose agar with tergitol
Agar culture medium containing tergitol. Used to determine the number of coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli in water intended for human consumption according to the old standard ČSN EN ISO 9308-1 (2001).
